Its important to keep your wiring in your property well maintained and up to date with current regulations to keep you and your family safe in your home, if your house has not been rewired in the last 25-30 years there's a good chance your house will need a rewire.

Things to look for:

• Plasticiser migration - also known as the green goo, if you have a green substance around your sockets or on the plug this is a sign that the insulation of the cables are reacting with the copper and will need a rewire.
• Older sockets and switches - Have a look at your sockets and switches do they look worn or generally older.
• Consumer unit / Fusebox - do you have plug in rewire-able fuses, has your consumer unit got a wooden back.
